This holiday season, it is more important than ever to support small businesses and makers – especially authors, artists, and indie pubs. We are featuring various indie artists for alternative gift ideas – such as commissioned art – and Servilius is an extremely talented artist whose work is original and powerful in its own right.

Sage Moon
Editor-in-Chief of Pride with a Bite
Name: Servilius (they/he)
Servilius is a full-time artist that loves both traditional and digital mediums. Their work leans towards darker elements, exploring unconventional beauty standards and pushing back against traditional values. These themes hold personal weight for them as a queer, disabled person that grew up in a conservative southern household. Through art they work to challenge norms and push boundaries while maintaining an air of elegance and something both horrifying and beautiful – creating visuals that blend the temptation of something otherly yet obtainable.
When they’re not working on art, they enjoy spending time with their partner and pets, exploring the natural beauty of their new home in Michigan, and binging historical documentaries and crime dramas.
